The Victorian Education Department has outlined a Curriculum Framework known as the
Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS)

This framework provides for  Learning Strands and Learning Domains   

For each Learning Domain are outcome Sandards to be achieved across the 6 Levels of Primary and Secondary education from Prep to Year 12.

This structure provides the framework to base the  development  the skills, attitudes and content for all Victorian students.

Our Curriculum

Yarra Glen Primary School provides the students with a comprehensive teaching and learning program that covers all areas of the curriculum as outilned in the  Victorian Essential Learning Standards.

At all levels our school programs are underpinned by the teaching and learning philosophies of the TRIBES Program.

TRIBES is a wholistic approach to teaching and learning that focuses on how a community can live and learn together.
It has a strong welfare base that supports the social, emotional and intellectual growth of all members of our school learning community.
The TRIBES program provides an excellent way to integrate the Victorian Essential Learning Strands across the curriculum.

The  curriculum is further supported throught  the development of Learning Foci and Focused Topics of Investigation.  Students at all levels are supported through structured programs to:

• develop attitudes and values to support independent and co-operative learning
• develop the skills to support quality learning in all areas
• cover the expected outcomes through meaningful exploration of content.
